Becoming a Language Interpreter with the K-W Multicultural Centre

To become an interpreter for the Mutlicultural Centre one must first complete the Language Interpreter Certificate program offered through Conestoga College.

Contractual arrangements with interpreters:

Our Language Interpreters are independent, self-employed individuals under contract with the K-W Multicultural Centre's Language Interpretation Services. As representatives of the K-W Multicultural Centre, interpreters have certain guidelines to follow:

  1. Interpreters must agree to comply with a professional Code of Ethics.
  2. Interpreters must agree to be screened by the K-W Police Force for convictions under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Ontario Child and Family Services Act.
  3. Interpreters may not make private arrangements for interpretation with any client organization or non-English speaker for whom the K-W L.I.S has arranged interpretation services during the term of the contract and for one year following its termination.
