Language Interpreter Service - How it works
The K-W Language Interpretation Service is a non-profit organization funded by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and the United Way and run out of the K-W Multicultural Centre. Our trained interpreters help to facilitate communication between non-English speakers and community agencies, government offices, professionals and businesses.
Interpretation
If you are looking for an Interpreter to help you communicate with a client, we can most likely meet your needs. The Language Interpreter Service has over 52 languages represented, with over 200 trained Interpreters. When we do not have a particular language we will try our best to find a person who might be able to help.
To set up an appointment with an Interpreter, call (519) 745-2593. We request that you give at least two days' notice for any appointment. You will be billed after the appointment.
For our current fee schedule please call.
Fee Policies
- Fees will be charged from the beginning of the scheduled start time, unless the interpreter is late, to the end of the interpretation time, and rounded to the next half hour.
- If the non-English speaker or the client organization fail to appear at an interpretation appointment, the client organization will be billed the minimum fee.
- The client organization will be charged a cancellation fee if the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.
- No extra fee will be charged for an interpreter's travel time and mileage within the limits of the K-W area unless the interpreter was brought in from outside K-W area.
