Toronto Urban Latin ensemble fires up Flamenco Fusion!
New release “¡Oye Mira!” will have audiences speaking in tongues.
This Toronto trio, along with guest musicians, brings the influences of their diverse backgrounds to the forefront of their sound in a way that has them often compared to Spain’s Ojos de Brujo. Some songs bring in Flamenco and Latin rhythms while some embrace a Brazilian Tropicália sensibility. With a hot new line up for 2016, band members include: Juan Dino Toledo on guitar and vocals; Oriana Barbato on bass and vocals; Ana Lía Arias Garrido on lead vocals;and Randolf Jimenez on drums.
Santerias’ newest release “¡Oye Mira!” (Hey Check this out!) has been well received by the media. This is one of their most experimental CDs to date, where funk, salsa, andean music and hip hop are all glued together by the music that only Santerias is capable of creating. Santerias is set to expand the success resulting from the debut album ‘Bosketches’, ‘Demonios’, a 2010 live CD Limited Edition, dozens of concerts at major Ontario and Quebec festivals and widespread acclaim from media like CBC Radio, Radio Canada, Toronto Sun and Telelatino. They have also created videos with TMN (The Movie Network) and Bravo.
