Our Arabic-speaking Community Interpreters work with social service agencies in Waterloo Region.
Agencies may book time with them for face-to-face or immediate over-the-phone interpretation between 9AM and 5PM from Monday to Friday. Their services can be used for Family Outreach sites, Employment Ontario providers and access to other community services.

Shatha joined us as a Community Interpreter in 2017.
Originally from the UAE, Shatha moved to Windsor, Ontario as a child and grew up there. She completed the Interpreter Training Course at Conestoga College. She spent several years teaching English in Syria and the UAE before returning to Canada with her husband.
A consummate communicator, Shatha is passionate about bridging cultures. As a busy mother of four, she is always on the go and is active in the community.
Ahmed joined us in 2017 as a Community Interpreter after working as a freelance interpreter with us for several years.
Originally from the small town of Benha, Egypt, Ahmed moved to Cairo to attend Zagazig University where he earned a B.Sc. in Architecture. His architectural career led him to live and work throughout the Middle East where he designed institutional and residential buildings.In 2012, he moved to Canada and lived in Toronto at first; he moved to Kitchener four years ago.
A proud Canadian citizen, Ahmed likes to relax in his spare time, listen to some jazz music, and can usually be found reading a book on history.
Nihal joined us in 2016 as an employment counsellor and now works as a Community Interpreter.
Nihal was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Al Alsum Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. She moved to Canada in 2008 with her husband and family and became a proud Canadian citizen in 2015. She holds a Language Interpreter Training Certificate from Conestoga College and enjoys crocheting, reading, swimming, cycling, cooking, baking, playing with her sons and spending time with family and friends.
