Tonight we will introduce to you our most popular and best known of all the Philippine dances. This traditional Philippine culture folk dance which was originated during the Spanish colonial era, was called “TheTinikling” which was named after a bird called ”Tikling” a long-legged bird found in the Philippine forest. The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. The lady dancers are wearing the national native clothes called the Balintawak or Patadyong, while the men who worked in the plantations wears a uniform called barong tagalog, A native Filipino costume.
